Our programs

The programs offered by S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc. focus on two key components that allow them to succeed. The two keys to success are:

Community Involvement

This includes involving parents, grandparents, small businesses, and the community as a whole. It is through this community involvement that we seek to create an enriched environment for inner-city and underprivileged youth, and provide a win-win situation for all involved.

Educational Opportunities

Statistically, inner-city and underprivileged youth have very limited opportunities for higher education. We seek to c change the story of their life, by giving them educational and business opportunities that were previously not available to them. It is through providing educational opportunities along with community involvement that S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc strives to create a new life for kids who need it the most.

P.U.R.E. Parents Understanding the Reward of Education. One of the key components of the success of our programs is the involvement of both parents. At S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc we believe that parental involvement is vital in allowing us to help inner-city and underprivileged youth succeed. The P.U.R.E. program focuses on gaining active parental involvement and understanding of the value and reward of focusing on their child's education.
C.U.R.E. Children Understanding the Reward of Education: S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc. will provide the community with an outlet to close the doors to the "digital divide" by facilitating placement of personal computers in the homes of participating students. By battling at risk education, including lack of resources and lack of programs, and illiteracy and other learning disorders though the after school programs and tutoring, S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc. aims to close the economic gap that separates the "haves from the have-nots". This program includes trips to foreign countries, after school programs, computer ownership, tutoring, self improvement programs, teaching of etiquette and rites of passage programs.
Dora Shore Scholarships The main emphasis of the Dora Shore Program is to open the doors of further education by giving educational scholarships. This scholarship is named after Dora Shore (1890-1980) who was the strong force behind promoting education for her family, as well as her community. It is her dedication and passion towards education that S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc strives toward.
S.O.S. Save our Seniors: At S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc we help inner-city and underprivileged youth by involving parents, grandparents, businesses, and the community as a whole. We believe that it is through this community approach that we can all work together to help these children succeed. This program is a community service oriented program. This program focuses on benefiting youth as well as senior citizens. It has been shown that elders often die at a younger age (60-65) many times because of depression caused by feelings of loneliness and not being wanted. In the S.O.S. program, seniors interact with the youth to create an environment that emulates grandparent and grandchildren relationships providing a "win-win" situation for all involved. Programs for the Senior Citizen Center include: An Introduction to the Internet, Fit Forever Exercise Programs, Volunteer Training and Development, Day Courses and Activities, Memory-Loss Screening, Blood Pressure Screening, Vision and Hearing Checkup, Employment Training, and Tax Preparation Services.
H.E.A.R.T. to H.E.A.R.T. Help End Abuse and Rape Together: Before we at S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc can help a child experience educational opportunities, we need to get to the core of their problems. The problems that are at the core of these children\'s helplessness include abuses of many kinds emotional, verbal, physical, mental all of which make it very difficult for a child to succeed academically, as well as in life. H.E.A.R.T. to H.E.A.R.T. program is designed to end these abuses, including rape through counseling, parental involvement, and other avenues. It is through tackling these core problems, we can help a child move forward to educational and life opportunities instead of continuing on a path that would normally lead to a life of crime.
B.I.Z. Kids Building International Zones Kids: The B.I.Z. Kids program is designed to establish direct contact and relationships with other student in countries around the world. This is done through the internet, e-circles and sponsored international field trips. It is through these relationships these children can expand their boundaries and learn of the big world around them.
C.E.O. Jr. Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities: The Jr. C.E.O. program allows for the development of internships and partnerships with small businesses, corporations, community colleges and universities in impact areas. This program was created to foster awareness of business management, financing, coporate and community inter-action and micro-lending programs as well as their impact for and on the 21st century. Having this opportunity to be involved in the business world, allows participating children to gain experience and open doors to future opportunities.
