About us

S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc. is a private, non-profit charitable organization with a governing Board of Directors. We focus on assisting disadvantaged youths to become model citizens, by providing quality access to academics. Also part of this is one-on-one counseling and therapy, recreational activities, and life skills training encompassed in a nurturing family environment.

S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc. ensures underprivileged and inner-city youth have access to global educational opportunities, by creating and facilitating a broadened awareness of these opportunities.

S.M.A.R.T. Students, Inc. therapeutic group homes serve male youth between the ages of 13 and 18.

Participants are referred by the juvenile court system, juvenile probation officers and the Division of Social Services.

California priority placement is given to the youth of Alameda County, while the Michigan and Texas group homes are open to referrals from all counties.

Each group home is licensed to hold up to 6 residents.

The therapeutic group home model was conceived by founder, J. Douglas Hollie, a professional football athlete and an educator.
